Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 30, 1987.

Lentföhren, mentioned for the first time in 1479, was characterized by wide bog areas and woods. This landscape offered ideal living conditions for a large number of black grouse. With the drainage of large parts of the moorland, the habitat of the black grouse also decreased, which eventually disappeared completely. Since some bog areas have been preserved and attempts are currently being made to restore the original condition through renaturation measures, there is the possibility of resettling large numbers of black grouse. This intention and the reorientation in the assessment of nature as a prerequisite for a harmonious landscape is indicated by the black grouse as the only heraldic figure. The coloring is based on the natural colors of the black grouse, taking into account the heraldic color rules.
