Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1926 and show the old village sign, a so-called wolf's iron. The meaning or origin of the stars is not known. The combination first appears on the local seal from the 16th century. In the 17th century the composition appears in the seals under the lion of Hessen, as the town belonged to Hessen. In the 19th century the stars were sometimes shown as golden, instead of silver. Even tough Rüsselsheim received city rights in 1437 and 1493, the town never developed into a proper city, and it did not adopt a seal of arms until the 16th century.
