SEBERSDORF
State : Steiermark
District : Hartberg
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 16, 1989.
The wheat-ears are symbols of agriculture, as Sebersdorf lies in fertile Eastern Styria, a well-known farmer's country. Recently, the construction of farming-machines has become important. This may symbolised by the scythe, which was also the arms of the von Mayerhofen, who were landowners here in the Middle Ages.
Hop is no longer an important crop in the region, so the hopvine is also a memorial to the past. The tinctures were taken from the arms of the Teufenbacher, another family of landowners.
