German Unter einem mit einem durchgehenden goldenen Kreuz belegten schwarzen Schildhaupt einen schwarzen mit einer roten Zunge bewehrten Löwen in Gold.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1964 and confirmed on May 26, 1970.

The lower part shows the lion of the arms of the Dukes of Jülich, who ruled the area for many centuries. The lion is also seen on the oldest 14th century seal of Kreuzau. The cross appears in the second seal, dating from the 16th century. The cross was placed above the shield, not in the shield. The cross is a canting element (Kreuz=cross). The cross was placed in the shield only later.
