Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 25, 1924 and again on March 1, 1988.
The arms are based on the seal of the last 18th century Lord of Lovendegem, Jean-Gilles Dons. He combined his personal arms with the old arms of the Estate of Loverndegem. The old arms are shown in the second and third quarter, and were first mentioned as arms for the estate in the 16th century. The meaning or origin of these arms is not known.
The first and fourth quarter show the arms of the Dons family. The eagle was added in the 18th century, but its meaning is not clear.
