Wappen von Frankenau/Arms (crest) of Frankenau
Official blazon
German Im roten Schild ein blaubewehrter goldener Löwe.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

Frankenau was founded in the early 13th century and received city rights in 1242, which were further confirmed in 1266. The village, however, did not develop into a real city. The oldest seals of Frankenau date from the middle of the 16th century. The seal showed the lion of Hessen, but without the characteristic bars. The colours are known since 1605.
