Norf.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms show a St. Andrew's cross, as St. Andrew is the local patron saint. The lower half shows the tower from the Vellbrüggen estate/castle, dating from the 13th century and the oldest building in the village. In 1585 the whole village population took refuge in the tower against plundering soldiers. The whole village, except the tower, was destroyed at the time.
