Origin/meaning

Süderneuland I is built on land reclaimed in 1556. Under the reign of Friedrich the Great a sea-lock was built and agriculture was started. This is symbolised by the lock and the monogramme FR (Fredericus Rex). The spurs are taken from the arms of Norden to symbolise the ties to this city.
