Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 28, 1927.
The fountain refers to the mineral springs in the parish. Th etwelve towers refer to the 30 stronholds or fortifications on the former city wall. The red shield refers to the battle fought near the city during the Napoleonic Wars.
