Bjurholm
BJURHOLM
Province (Landskap): Ångermanland, Västerbotten
County (Län): Västerbottens län
Incorporated into: 1974-1982 Vännäs
Swedish | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 20, 1951.
The first part of the municipal name (Bjur) is an old form of the word beaver, and this animal is also to be found in the municipality. The blue and the wavy partitions are to represent the rivers of the municipality, and can of course also be seen as an illustration of the last part of the name (holm = small island) - which would make the arms even "more" canting.
The arms were readopted, when Bjurholm was separated from Vännäs, of which it was a part in the years 1974-1982.Literature: Nevéus and de Waern, 1992
