FONTANALS DE CERDANYA

Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona
Additions: 1969 Queixans, Urtx

Escudo de Fontanals de Cerdanya/Arms (crest) of Fontanals de Cerdanya
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat partit: 1r. de gules, una creu plena d'argent; 2n. de sinople, 2 espigues de blat d'or passades en sautor. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 19, 2000.

The arms are compound too: the first partition show the arms of the viscounts of Urtx, and the wheat ears stand for Queixans, a Pyrenean village traditionally dedicated to agriculture that now tends mostly towards tourism, as the whole municipality does.
