MEHEDINŢI COUNTY

Arms (crest) of Mehedinți (county)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1999.

The golden bridge refers to the construction erected here in antiquity by Apollodorus of Damascus; the silver construction represents the Iron Gates Hydropower Plant, an allusion to the achievements of modern times; the bee, the old coat of arms of the county, appeared since 1715, reminds, on the one hand, the ancient occupation of the inhabitants, and on the other hand symbolizes the diligence of the people of these places.
