Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 9, 1955.

The arms show the banner of the Counts of Lippe-Schwalenberg. From 1613-1709 Brake was the seat of the Counts of Lippe-Schwalenberg. Before 1955 the municipality simply used the arms of the State of Lippe, a red rose in silver.
