German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

TÄFERROT

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ostalbkreis (until 1973 Schwäbisch Gmünd)

Wappen von Täferrot

Official blazon

In Rot über einer silbernen Wellendeichsel die Märtyrerin Afra in silbernem Gewand mit einem goldenen Nimbus, wachsend über einem von roten Flammen umzüngelten goldenen Holzstoß.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 9, 1957.

The arms show St. Afra, who was burned at the stake. St. Afra is the patron saint of the town, which was named Afrenrot after 1298 to distinguish the original name Rot from other towns with similar names. Later the name was gradually changed to Täferrot. The lower part of the arms show the two rivers Rot and Lein, which are joined in the municipality.
