Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 7, 1983.

The checquered bar and the lion ar etaken from the arms of the Cistercian monastery of Bildhausen, which owwned the rights to the local church from the 12th century until 1803. The bar also refers to the Cistercian Convent Echterswinkel, which also had possessions in the municipality.

The deer antler is taken from the arms of the Lords Von Brend, a medieval family which owned several rights in the village. The red and silver colours refer to the State of Würzburg, to which the whole area historically belonged.
