FISCHERHUDE

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Verden
Incorporated into : 1972 Ottersberg

Wappen von Fischerhude

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1955.

THe arms show in the upper part of the arms a typical decoration of the farms in the area, two horse-heads. The lower part shows a canting fish, as a symbol for the main source of income for the town prior to 1928. In 1928 the Wümme river was canalised and fishing became of less importance for the local economy.
