GÖRISRIED
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ostallgäu
Official blazon
Gespalten; vorne in Gold ein schwarzer Steinbock, hinten gespalten von Rot und Silber mit einer schräg links gestellten Rodungshaue in verwechselten Farben.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 10, 1975.
The ibex is taken from the arms of Rupert von Bodman (1687-1728), Abbott of the Kempten Abbey, to which the village belonged for a long time. Previously the village was part of the State of Augsburg, which is shown by the silver and red divided left half. The tool is an axe used for clearing the forests and is a canting element (Roden=to clear a forest, ried is derived from roden).
