Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 12, 1904.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Barons of Steenhuys, who acquired the estate in the early 18^th century and who were the last Lords of Elverdinge. In the 16^th century the Lord of Helverdynghe used rather different arms with in silver a red cross with in the chief an undefined black object.
