DWORP
Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Incorporated into : 1977 Beersel
Official blazon
- (1818) Een rood schild beladen met drie toorens van goud, geplaatst twee en een.
- (1838) Een rood veld, met dry geele onversterkte torens, van dry kanteelen voorzien.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 9, 1820 and again on August 9, 1820.
The arms were probably devised in the early 19th century and are canting for the French name of the town, Tourneppe (Tour=tower). There are only two seals known of the local council. One from 1655, showing the arms of Witthem van Beersel, Lord of Dworp at the time. A later seal, dating from 1703 shows a shield with a single chevron.
