UCKERMARK (UM)
State : Brandenburg
Additions : 1993 Angermünde, Prenzlau, Schwedt, Templin
Official blazon
(de)
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 8, 1995.
The city wall and church represent the impressive churches in Prenzlau and Angermünde, as well as the formerly many monasteries in the district. The area was a border area and many forts were established in the district in the Middle Ages. The two small shields show the arms of Brandenburg (eagle) and Pommern (griffin), as the area historically belonged to these tow States. The wavy bars represent the Oder, Randow and Ucker rivers in the district.
