In Rot eine silberne Gugel. Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on March 11, 1976. Güglingen became a city in the late 13th century as a possession of the Lords of Neuffen. The oldest seal, dating from 1359, as well as all later seals and images, show a hood, see images below. The hood is a canting symbol, derived from the Latin cucullus and German Gugel. Even though the composition has not changed, the colours have changed regularly during the centuries. The present colours are officially used since 1575, but in the 1930s the shied was often shown as blue.
