OBERWOLFACH
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ortenaukreis (until 1973 Wolfach)
German | In Silber ein aufgerichteter roter Wolf.
Origin/meaningThe arms were granted in 1903, but are much older. The oldest seal of the Wolfach Valley in which the village is situated, dates from a charter from 1487 and dating from 1480. It already shows a shield with a canting wolf rampant. Later seals from 1647 and 1811 also show the wolf. The colours were not kniwn until 1903 when the State Archives of Baden proposed the red and silver colours. The meaning of the colours is not known. The village has used slightly different versions in time, for example in 1956 the municipality shortly used arms showng a brown wolf on a green ground. Contact and SupportPartners: Your logo here ?
