Personal Arms: Quarterly, 1st and 4th, Azure, three Pelicans argent, vulning themselves proper, 2nd and 3rd, Gules, two broken Belts palewise, the buckles upwards Argent.

Origin/meaning

Bishop Pelham's personal Arms are ancesteral arms of the Earls of Chichester. The Bishop was the third son of Thomas Pelham, 2nd Earl of Chichester and his wife Lady Mary Henrietta Juliana Osborne, eldest daughter of the 5th Duke of Leeds. The Pelican wounding itself is also used as a symbol of Christ sacrifying himself for humanity.
