Origin/meaning
This new municipality was created in 1977 with the segregation of a part of Tortosa, and includes the northern half of the delta of the river Ebro. Their arms were granted on 28th September 1984, and show a rice ear, the main crop of the delta; the bridge reminds the traditional ferry across the river, and the seagulls over the waves are an allusion to the delta, that's to say the mouth of the river by the seaside.
