Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 8, 1989.

The earliest colonists came in the 10^th century. They were Baiern (predecessor of today's Bavaria). So, the arms employ the Bavarian tinctures. Maria Buch is a place of pilgrimages. Buch originally meant "in the beeches". Buch can also mean "book". The fleur-de-lis represents Our Lady. The flanks embattled are a symbol for the many small Wehrhöfe (fortified homesteads and small manors), which existed in the Middle Ages.
