Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 1926 and are based on the only known seal, dating from 1266.
The seal was not the seal of the city itself, but of the governors of the local castle. The seal, and thus the arms, shows the castle itself. In the gate is an image of an Emperor, probably Charlemagne, as, according to legend, he founded the castle. The colours were chosen arbitrarily. The seal of Stromberg from 1266 |
