Origin/meaning

Waldsee received city rights in 1298 and was until 1331 a possession of the Lords of Waldsee. In 1331 they sold the city and castle to the Habsburg family. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1520 and shows the arms of the Lords of Waldsee, in black a silver bar.
