RIEDELBERG
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Südwestpfalz
Verbandsgemeinde : Zweibrücken-Land
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 20, 1982.
The upper half shows a water mill wheel, symbolizing the former watermills in the area. The fleur-de-lis is a symbol for St. Mary, the local patron saint. The lower half shows a chevron, taken from the arms of the Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg, to whom the area belonged in early medieval times. The tile with the letter R refers to the many Roman tiles and other items found in the area.
