Origin/meaning

The current arms combine elements of the arms of the three former ruling families of the area. The right part is taken from the arms of the Jabłonowski family, the bull's head from the arms of the Wieniawa-Broniszów family. Over all the arms of the Dutch Royal family of Orange-Nassau, who owned the area from 1799 until the end of the 19th century.

In the 19th century only the Dutch National Arms were used, after 1929 the two older family arms were added. After 1945 the Nassau lion was removed again and re-established in the early 1990s.
