History: First formed in 1940 at Royal Naval Air station Ford (HMS Peregrine), West Sussex as a Torpedo-Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron for HMS Illustrious. Took part in the raid on Taranto with Fairey Swordfish.

The Latin Motto translates as "Strike at the weakest point" was approved in 1991 and allude to the Anti Submarine Role. The Badge was approved on 15 January 1945.
