Official blazon

In Gold eine silberne Lilie, an deren Bund angelehnt vorne ein goldener Dreieckschild mit fünf roten Balken, hinten ein silberner Halbrundschild mit einem blauen Pfahl.

Origin/meaning

Grünsfeld received city rights around 1320 from King Ludwig der Bayer. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1386 and shows already the combination of a large fleur-de-lis with two small shields. The small shield with the bars shows the arms of the Counts of Rieneck, who ruled the area in the 13^th century. The origin and meaning of the other elements is not known.
