RAF STATION SYLT, ROYAL AIR FORCE

History: opened in July 1945 and closed in February 1948. Sylt is a German Island in the North Sea.

In front of a lighthouse argent a hand proper couped at the wrist holding a sword erect azure/Or.
Motto:Unswerving

Origin/meaning

The Lighthouse is from the Arms of Westerland the largest town on the Island of Sylt. It also alludes to the Air Sea Rescue role that the station had for the Area. The Hand holding a Sword symbolises the other Role as an Armament Practice Camp.
