Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 15, 1960.

Until the late 13th and 14^th century Wasserleonburg (the castle near Nötsch) was an important base for the counts of Görz and their arms consisted of a golden lion on blue ground. As the counts were of great importance in the history of the town, the arms were later adopted by the municipality.
