Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 28, 1911.

The crosses are derived from the oldest seal of the Castrop Estate, dating from the late 15^th century. The seal showed the cross of St. Andrew. Later seals showed the same cross, but since the late 17^th century the 'open' cross has been used.

The colours were defined in 1902 and the arms were officially granted in 1911 with a mural crown.
