Official blazon
German blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 9, 1976.

The arms show elements of the arms of the former rulers in the region. The first quarter shows the cross of the State of Trier; the second the beheaded eagle of Lotharingen (Lorraine), the third the lion of the county of Saarbrücken and the bar of the Knights of Kerpen. All elements were also present in the former arms of the municipalities that were merged in 1974.

Wappen von Illingen (Saar)/Arms (crest) of Illingen (Saar)

The previous arms were granted on April 27, 1951.

These arms only showed the arms of the Knights of Kerpen, who were Lords of Illingen and the Kerpen castle for more than 500 years.
