Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 23, 1911 and confirmed on April 13, 1970.
The arms are based on a local seal dating from the 15th century. The meaning of the wolf is not clear. The colours were derived from the colours of Nassau, as the area historically belonged to the County Nassau-Siegen.
From 1887-1911 the town used arms with the local patron saint, St. Vitus rising from behind a city wall, standing in a 'landscape' resembling the local area.
