Stema Otopeni

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 5, 2007.

The propeller and wings refer to the "Henri Coandă" International Airport, the main gateway to the country by air. The water mill refers to the medieval attestation of the locality, which was established on the basis of the milling activity, in the area of the nearby watercourses. The oak branches are the symbol of the old Codru al Vlăsia estate, but along with the division line they also remind of the heroic battles fought here during the Second World War, as well as the defense defenses of the capital.
