Official blazon

Geviert von Silber und Rot, belegt mit der Standfigur eines blau Geharnischten, der in der Rechten eine Hellebarde hält, die Linke am Griff des Degens; oben links ein T-förmiges silbernes Zeichen.

Origin/meaning

The oldest known seal of the town dates from the late 14^th century and shows only the quartered shield of the State of Würzburg. From 1512 onwards all the seals show the above arms, only the T was added in the 19^th century.
The knight is likely a canting symbol, the old name of the town was Heltmann (literally Hero-man).
