Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 10, 1447 by Duke Heinrich of Bayern-Landshut.
The lower part of the arms shows a canting church ( Kirche = church). The oldest known seal, dating from the 14th century already shows a church.
The upper part shows the panther of the counts of Spanheim, who ruled the area before the Wittelsbach family (Dukes of Bayern).
The composition did not change, but the size and shape of the church has changed considerably during the centuries.
The arms in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
