Additions : 1978 Attel

In Silber ein golden gekrönter und bewehrter roter Löwe.
Origin/meaning
The arms show the lion of the counts of Wassenburg, dating from before 1248. Wasserburg became a city in the first half of the 13th century and the earliest seals (known from 1292, but dating from 1250) show already the lion, albeit without crown. The lion has ever since been the arms of the city, but the colours have been changed regularly, most likely as the origin of the lion became unknown. Depending on the local ruler the colours of the lion were adapted. When the crown was added is not exactly known. Once the lion was shown wearing a collar, but that was never continued.
