Origin/meaning
Neuenstadt am Kocher was founded as Helmbund by the Lords of Weinsberg and received city rights in the late 13th century, when the name was changed. The oldest seal dates from 1334 and shows already the above arms. The shields are derived from the arms of the Lords of Weinberg, who used three silver shields. The helmet is canting for the old name of the village, and is also derived from the arms of the Helmbund family. The arms remained unchanged, even though the city became later a part of the Pfalz and Württemberg.
