EGGERSDORF BEI GRAZ
State : Steiermark
District : Graz-Umgebung
Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on April 9, 1979.
The name of the municipality Eggersdorf alludes to Egge (harrow, drag). Its origins may well go back to the 10th century. The lands were in the possession of the Duke of Styria. The blazon attempts to represent a harrow in the colours of the Styrian dukes of the 13th century, black and white. These were soon after changed to green and white (see the State arms).
The two crowns in chief represent the saints, to whom the church of Eggersdorf has been dedicated: St Bartholomew, patron of the medieval church, and St Florian, the patron of the present church.
