(de) In Silber ein rot bewehrter schwarzer Wolf.

Origin/meaning

The arms are canting, they show a wolf. The wolf already appeared on the first known seal of the city, known since 1403, but probably dating from the middle of the 15^th century. In the course of the centuries the animal gradually changed into a fox. The official chain of the mayor from 1819 undoubtedly showed a fox. In 1961 the present arms were granted, with a wolf, not a fox.
