Origin/meaning

The eagle already appeared on the seals of the city since the 16th century. The eagle also appeared on the local church door, dating from 1506. The origin of the eagle, however, is not known. The eagl eis traditionally shown, however, as the Imperial eagle.

Hupp showed the arms in the 1920s without red claws of the eagle, see below.
