(de) In rot eine silberne Burgsilhouette mit Zinnen davor in schwarz die Silhouette eines Dreischalenbrunnens. Im Schildhaupt vier silberne Eichenblätter mit Eichenfrucht.

The stone wall refers to the local Friedewald castle and the fountain in the base is the local characteristic fountain. Together these are the landmarks of the village of Friedewald.

The four oak leaves represent the four villages in the municipality as well as the forests in the area. They also refer to the old '1000-year oak' in the village.
The colours are the colours of the lion of Hessen.
