Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 11, 1985.

The arms show the local church, which originated from the 13th century, but was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1660.

The oak leaves refer to the Hüttener Berge natural reserve. The also refer to the four areas that were cobined to for the municipality in 1928; the municipality of Bünsdorf, the Estates of Schirnau and Steinrade and the village of Wentorf.

The base shows the Wittensee lake, an important recreational area.
