Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms show in the upper part the Eye of God, a typical Christian symbol. The meaning of the spade and fish is not clear, the fish can be a symbol of Christ (Ichtus). The anchor may be seen as the Christian symbol for hope.
The arms hwva basically not changed during his tenure, but in Augsburg there are some images where the symbols were placed in small shields. The colours thereof are not known. It may be an artistic variation, but it may be that he did use the arms differnetly in Augsburg.
