Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 2019 and became valid on January 1, 2020.
The arms show three sails, one for each of the former municipalities.
The arms were chosen after a contest with the following other proposals:
The previous arms were granted on October 7, 1975.
The arms show three tree trunks, or askekaller in Norwegian, and are thus canting. The trees are a kind of willow, which were cut every year to provide food for the animals. The trees thus developed after many years a very typical shape, which was characteristic for the area.
