Origin/meaningThe arms show a city gate with three silver stars. The stars are taken from the medieval Lords of Eilenburg, known since 1170. The composition alreay appeared on the oldest known city seal, dating from 1294. During the late 19th century the city used the arms with a crown and a small tower as a crest.
