Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 11, 2012, but have been in use for much longer time.

The arms show a claw of a griffin. The griffin was used as their symbol by the Counts of Pommerania, who ruled the town for many centuries. The claw already appeared on the 14^th century seals of the city.
